Headline: Patient input needed for Lumbar Spine Stenosis Project
We need a person with lumbar spine stenosis to be a patient representative on a research project.
Link:
Full description: What is Lumbar Spinal Stenosis? As we age, our spines change. These normal wear-and-tear effects of aging can lead to narrowing of the spinal canal putting pressure on the nerves. This causes pain in the legs and back. Most commonly, leg pain is made worse by standing or walking but relieved by sitting or bending. What is involved? We are a team of researchers who would like to improve the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. As part of our plans to develop our research, we would like to hear and discuss patients’ views about our ideas. If you are interested, we would also like to invite you to be patient/public member of the research team. This might involve, for example reviewing patient information, the design of the study and ideas for sharing the results in the future. It doesn’t matter if you have only recently been diagnosed or if you have had surgery for this condition. We would still invite you to be involved and welcome your ideas. Next Steps We plan to hold an informal meeting on Tuesday 12th of March at 11am until 12.30 where we would be happy to share further background on the study and to explore ways you may wish to become involved. This meeting will take place at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. We will be able to tell you the room and give directions closer to the time. We are able to pay for your time and reimburse your expenses, including carer costs. Full support for your role will be provided. If you are interested, please call Esther Williamson on 02476 151665 or email e.m.williamson@warwick.ac.uk by 9th March 2013. Thank you!
