About this site

This section tells you about who runs the site, how it has been developed and how to contact us.

In 2009, when we evaluated People in Research, a lot of site users told us that we should do more to help redirect people who had come to the site but were looking for something else.  So on most pages of this site you will find links on the right-hand side to information for:

People who want to find out about participating in a clinical trial
  • ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details.
  • IFPMA Clinical Trials Portal - A free and easy to use interface for patients and health professionals  to ongoing clinical trials, clinical trial results and complementary information on related issues. Non-promotional and reliable information.

People who are looking for information about a specific health topic (e.g. diabetes or ear infections)

  • NHS Choices:  information for the public about the NHS and about health conditions
  • NHS Evidence:  access to clinical and non-clinical information - local, regional, national and international. Information includes evidence, guidance and Government policy.
  • NHS Direct: online health information and a telephone helpline for advice and information 0845 4647
A jargon buster of research terms

We want to continue to improve the site so please use the Feedback form  to tell us what you think.
