What can I do?
There are many different ways to get involved in health and social care research with a broad range of research topics and organisations. There might be more opportunities to get involved in some kinds of research than others, but that is changing so if there is a topic you are particularly interested in keep looking on the database of opportunities.
There will be a variety of research activities that you can do, and which ones are suitable will depend on your interests and experiences as well as the different research opportunities.
Everyone will be different regarding how much time and energy they want to commit. You might want to start in a small way to see if you enjoy it.
If you prefer not to travel there will be opportunities that you can carry out from home perhaps through reading and commenting on reports or by having telephone discussions or responding by email. For other pieces of work travel might be involved as there will be regular face to face meetings. When you look at the Get involved section of the website it will tell you if an opportunity is suitable for a beginner or to be carried out from home.
