This study looks at how individuals of different generations and families use antibiotics for coughs, colds, and chest infections within South Asian communities. We will work with service users and clinicians to understand beliefs, experiences, and everyday decision-making around antibiotics. Together, we will adapt existing NHS antibiotic guidance so that it better reflects cultural values and family roles, helping people manage infections safely.

What support is offered?

Contributors will be reimbursed for their time taking part in the PPI meeting and for any reasonable preparation involved, in line with NIHR guidance. Each session will be facilitated by the lead researcher, experienced in patient and public involvement work with minoritised ethnic communities. While the research team cannot provide medical or clinical advice, they can offer signposting to appropriate support services if any issues or concerns arise during the discussions.
