Full description:
Non-cognitive symptoms of dementia such as delusions, hallucinations, and agitation can be very distressing and impact well-being. Antipsychotic medication, including risperidone, can be used to help manage these symptoms where non-medication options haven’t helped. Previous studies have suggested some people need smaller doses to have the same concentration in their blood stream, but we don’t currently test for this. This project aims to explore personalising the prescribing of risperidone.
