Full description:
We are inviting parents, carers, and young people (aged 6-25) with experience of cerebral palsy (CP) to help improve chest health care for children. We are particularly interested in hearing from those who have managed chest health issues, such as breathing difficulties or frequent chest infections. You will share your experiences and thoughts on the project. This will help us shape resources that support early conversations about chest health between families and healthcare professionals.
Opportunity Deadline
17th December 2024
Payment:
£25 voucher for your time
Expenses:
Initially it will be online, so there will not be reimbursements at this stage. In future, if you are involved on a more formal, longer term basis, there will be reimbursement for childcare, travel etc.

Samantha Grace, Queen Mary's University London
I am in the process of developing a research proposal for this project to be submitted to Queen Mary's University London. The university offers research Grants to support research in under-served populations, and I feel that children and young people with cerebral palsy, particularly with complex medical needs, are needing better representation in research. The project has and will have many key health professionals, researchers and people involved from around the University and the NHS.

What support is offered?
Initially, conversations will take place online, and we will offer assistance with using online technologies, such as setting up video calls or accessing digital materials. We are dedicated to ensuring children with communication difficulties can fully engage, offering communication aids and tailored support to meet individual needs where possible. As the project progresses, there may be opportunities for in-person workshops and discussions. We will continue to provide support, including help with travel and childcare, ensuring everyone can participate effectively. Throughout the project, training, mentoring, and peer support will be available to ensure you feel confident and comfortable contributing. The goal is to create an inclusive, supportive environment where every participant’s experience is valued.
