Public involvement in governance of a UK study of Public Health involvement in local alcohol licensing: ExILEnS: Exploring the Impact of alcohol Licensing in England and Scotland.

PPI representative wanted to provide feedback on a 3 year project (approx 2/3 days per year).

Full description:

Major NIHR funded 3 year project focusing on Public Health involvement in local alcohol Licensing processes. Alcohol Licensing is crucial to regulating alcohol availability, which is known to impact on population health and crime. A member of the public with a good knowledge of English local Licensing processes would be ideal to provide advice, insights, and assist with plain English communication. 2/3 days per year. Could involve travel to London and Stirling: expenses paid and time compensated.

Although the study is led by Stirling University, LSHTM is a collaborating partner and will lead on working with the public involvement representative from England (Stirling have already recruited a representative from Scotland).

The Research Team will provide personal support and formal training as required.


Payment may depend on personal circumstances (e.g. benefits/tax issues) but we anticipate £100 per day. To be discussed.


Some involvement can be done by home, but where travel to meetings/events is requested expenses will be paid.
