Seeking people with diabetes in Scotland to become involved in our existing Research Advisory Panel

Full description:

We have 3-4 meetings per year, lasting 1-2 hours each. These meetings can be completed in-person or virtually, to fit in around your existing commitments/schedule. The purpose of the meetings is to:
– discuss our wider research strategy, upcoming opportunities, individual studies based on current patient interests/priorities
– review proposed individual study methodology and wider dissemination strategy
– provide feedback/letter of support for upcoming grant applications and press releases

Payment:

£25/hour, in accordance with NIHR guidelines

Expenses:

We will reimburse any necessary expenses incurred through participation in our panel meetings, including travel and remote working costs.

The Diabetes Medical Informatics and Epidemiology (DMI&E) research group is based at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer at the University of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital. Our research is very much focused on large scale epidemiology projects that usually involve analysis of linked data sets to inform policy and understanding of diabetes and its complications. Mostly, it does not involve direct contact with people with diabetes.

No experience necessary to join - we will endeavour to provide available training materials to anyone interested in knowing more about their role and it's importance to the conduct of research as part of a panel such as this one. If possible, we will support attendance at a conference/workshop on your involvement in research.
