55,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer and 12,000 die from the disease each year. It is more common in Black men than White or Asian men. Diagnosing aggressive types of prostate cancer earlier could help people live longer, healthier lives. This project aims to improve the quality of care for hundreds of thousands of people tested for Prostate Specific Antigen (or PSA for short) in general practice. We will focus on improving how we pick up aggressive prostate cancer.

The Role of Nursing Associates in GP Practices

Help Improve Research for People Living with Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTCs)
There is a need for more and better research with people with MLTCs.
We want to identify the most important methodological research questions which need answering in order for researchers to conduct better clinical trials in this area.
We want to establish a PPI advisory group, aiming for 8 members including people with MLTCs and carers, to advise on different sections of our study to ensure our work remains relevant to those living with MLTCs. This research will not be about the treatments.

I’m conducting interviews with Black adults to explore their experiences of accessing or not accessing GP support for their mental health. I’m looking for Black individuals aged 18 or over with experience of mental health difficulties (of any kind) to review short written materials related to the study – including a participant information sheet and a recruitment poster.
PPI Group Opportunity: Older Adults Pneumococcal Vaccination
This is a grant application for a project investigating the generational influence on vaccination. We will be interviewing older adults (65 years+) and their children (possibly grandchildren too) on their thoughts about vaccination (including pneumococcal, flu, shingles, winter COVID and RSV). We are particularly interested in hearing from those who have REFUSED any of these. In this opportunity, you will be part of a small PPI team of 3/4 people, helping guide the documents and interviews.
Risks and benefits of concomitant use of contraceptives and hormonal replacement therapy
While contraceptives and menopausal hormone therapy are commonly prescribed in women, clinical evidence on the impact of concurrent medications is lacking. This project aims to evaluate potential drug interactions between hormonal therapies and other medications and investigate the role of hormonal therapy in various clinical outcomes when used with other medications using routine clinical data.
