A Delphi survey to identify a core set of items for sharing the results of randomised trials with patients and the public

We’re developing a guideline to help researchers share trial results clearly with patients and the public. This online survey asks what kinds of information you think should be shared.

It takes 15–20 minutes per round.

Participants must be 18 or older. We welcome input from all backgrounds, with priority for people from minority groups.

Inner speech after stroke and its role in memory and attention

Inner speech is defined as the voice is our head. It plays a role in several cognitive processes such as memory and attention. Most neurotypical adults can think in words and say those words out loud. In contrast, stroke survivors who have aphasia often experience that the words they think or intend to say (i.e., their inner speech) and the words they can say out loud, do not match. In this project, we will study the relationship between inner speech, memory, and attention.

Computational biomechanical biomarker to predict bone strength for hormone-sensitive prostate cancer patients

We would like to develop and automate a pipeline to monitor changes in bone strength in high-fracture-risk advanced prostate cancer patients, comparing different types of treatments. We are looking for public members/health professionals to advise on the proposal idea, review lay summary, share their views on the use of Computed Tomography scans in this manner, advise how it might be best to disseminate our findings.

Enhancing Empathy in Digital Consultations for Everyone

What is the problem?
Healthcare professionals (HCPs) use digital tools for patient consultations more and more. This includes phone, video, or chat messaging. These work well for many patients and are important for future-proofing the NHS. But they can make it harder for HCPs to express empathy compared with face-to-face appointments. We will find out from patients and HCPs how empathy can and should be expressed in digital consultations to inform an online training package for HCPs.

Mental health symptoms in Lewy body diseases

We are looking for people to fill out a brief survey on their experiences of mental health symptoms in Lewy body disease. Lewy body diseases can include Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s with dementia or dementia with Lewy bodies. Mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety or apathy can be quite common in Lewy body diseases but their cause is not well understood. This survey aims to collect expert opinions and experiences from people affected by Lewy body disease to help design future research.
