Study of awake prone positioning (lying on your tummy) with Respiratory failure

We are looking for someone that was hospitalised with COVID-19 breathing problems and was asked to lie in their front (awake prone positioning).

We would like you to do a brief video (~5-minutes) describing your experience of awake prone positioning that we would then use in the patient information documents of our ongoing study of awake prone positioning.

Please contact k.couper@warwick.ac.uk with any queries.

Exploring how physical activity can support people living with and beyond lung cancer

We’re inviting people affected by lung cancer to act as public members of a steering committee to help monitor, supervise and advise on two research studies.

We are looking for people with personal experience of being diagnosed with lung cancer, or of caring for someone with lung cancer, who live in Yorkshire.

Previous experience of being involved in research or being a member of a formal committee, would be beneficial.

Patient & public engagement - Seeking spouse and partners caring for someone living with dementia

Our research aims to develop and improve a measure of death literacy. “Death literacy” means understanding what happens at the end of life, knowing what support is available, and being able to make good decisions about care. Carers who have better death literacy may feel more confident, provide better care, and find it easier to get the help they need. We are seeking current spouse/partners who are providing informal carers to participate in a 2-year project involving four meetings. Informal means that you are not a paid member of staff, but either a family member or close friend/relative.

Which people are more at risk from viruses that affect breathing?

We are running a study to find out which people are more at risk from viruses that affect breathing.

We plan to use health information that the NHS already collects. Before we start, we want to know what you think about using NHS data for this kind of research.

We would be very grateful if you could help by:
1. Reading about the study on the website: www.vivid-study.co.uk
2. Giving your opinion by clicking the ‘Share your thoughts’ link on that website. This will open a short questionnaire.

Cardiac arrest- shaping research in adult cardiac arrest

We are looking for support and the lived experience of people affected by cardiac arrest.

You may be:
1) Someone who has had a cardiac arrest,
2) The loved one of someone that has had a cardiac arrest and survived,
3) The loved one of someone that has had a cardiac arrest and tragically died.

We are looking for individuals that can help us design and deliver research in cardiac arrest- a variety of opportunities are available that we can tailor in line with your time and interest.

Are you interested in infections, the micro-organisms which cause them and antimicrobial resistance?

We are looking for new members to join our patient & public group to work with us making sure that public views on how we run our research are heard and acted on. You do not need to have a long-term condition, or be a regular user of health or care services. Being interested in infections, the microbes that cause them and antimicrobial resistance is enough! We are particularly interested in talking to young people, young families, and people who might think that science research is not for them.

Understanding perceptions of brain stimulation technologies for brain conditions

We are looking for people with lived experience of depression or dementia (directly or as a carer), who are over 18 years of age, and live in the UK, to share their views on potential barriers and solutions to the use of brain stimulation technologies in routine clinical care.

It involves one 2-hour focus group (in-person at the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging – JR hospital).

The next focus group is planned for: ** Wednesday 19th November (11am-1pm) **

Patient & Public Engagement – Young Bone Health Research

As part of the development of a research idea and research proposal, I am seeking feedback from patients and/or their carers with lived experience of poor bone health. This may have presented as:
– A ‘low-energy fracture’, where you sustained a break in a bone from standing or a low height.
– A diagnosis of ‘osteopenia’, where your bone density is lower than it should be for your age, but not osteoporosis
– A diagnosis of ‘osteoporosis’, where your bone density is poor
